We should have learned from lesson # 2, the following:
1.
That sin brings death and separation from God.
2.
That God gave Jesus Christ as a gift of His love and as a sacrifice for
eradicating sin.
3.
That this gift brings eternal life for all that would trust in the work
Christ did for us.
4.
That animal sacrifices were temporary, never intended to eradicate sin.
5.
The work of Christ was dying for our sins.
Before we begin today’s lesson I want to clarify the
position of this ministry. We believe God has saved people who are members of
various different denominations. We
do not think that any known denomination has an exclusive right to salvation,
and we will not engage in denominational issues or differences at all.
The only issue we will elaborate on are those that are found in the
Bible.
If, in the course of study, you find that what the Bible
says contradicts with your denominational beliefs, you will have to determine
which is valid and which is not. We will, in all cases, trust God’s Word over
man’s creed.
Now, let us look at The Faith of Christ in detail.
The Faith of Christ involves resurrection. We learned in
lesson one that Jesus was with God in the very beginning of time.
Sometime in the beginning Jesus must have agreed to be the ultimate
sacrifice for sin and God agreed if Jesus would be willing to die for sin, He
would make sure Christ would be resurrected from the grave. Christ believed Him.
That is what The Faith of Christ is.
Christ died for my sin, was buried and rose again so that I
might be justified before God. (See authors book: Faith of Christ)
Mankind can do nothing to save himself.
He cannot do a work that will satisfy God’s requirement for
justification. Only the Lord Jesus Christ could do that. The work mankind did to
appease God during the dispensation of the Law was a “band aid”. The keeping
of the law was never intended to save one’s soul from eternal damnation.
”But before faith
came (Jesus Christ), we were kept
under the law, shut up unto the faith (The Faith of Christ)
which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster
to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (The
Faith of Christ) But
after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.”
Galatians 3: 23-25
“I have been taught all my life that going to church
regularly, giving my money to support the church and keeping the 10 commandments
would save me,” You say. Then
according to the passages we have read, you should have learned that that is not
the whole truth. And aren’t you seeking the whole truth, not just a little
truth?
So, what must one do in order to be saved and live
eternally with God? Trust the finished work of Christ.
What is that? Let the Bible speak for itself.
“Moreover,
brethren, I declare unto you the gospel (good news) which I preached unto you, which also ye have received
(acknowledged, accepted) and wherein ye
stand; (trusted, believed) By which
also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless
ye have believed in vain.
